'Groovin'"

My sister’s been married twice. Her first nuptial took place when I was about 12 years old and it was a hokey-looking strip-center event center that had the accordion tuck-away walls that opened to a small dance floor and the reception area.

The center had music playing and “Groovin’” by The Rascals played. As we listened, my brother-in-law (another sister) and I wondered why a love song would include the lyrics “you and me and Leslie.”

Eighteen years later and I finally learned that the lyrics were “… you and me endlessly.”

The Rascals were arguably the first “blue-eyed soul” band. Which means you’re white and you’re trying to sound black.
